#001 Bulbasaur

Number: 001
Ruby/Sapphire Number: 203
Type: Grass/Poison
Category: Seed
Height: 2'04'' / 0.7m
Weight: 15.0lb / 6.9kg
English Name: Bulbasaur
Japanese Name:
German Name:
French Name:
Bulbasaur is the Grass-type Starter Pokémon from Red, Blue and Green. As a starter Pokémon, it is a good choice as it is strong against the first few Gym Leaders and is relatively easy to train, having strong attacks and good SPECIAL stats. It is probably the easiest of the three Pokémon to start with.

In the Pokémon TV show, Ash gains a Bulbasaur early in the first season, during Episode 10 "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village". Bulbasaur is assisting a girl named Melanie to care for hurt and abandoned Pokémon, and Team Rocket attacks the village while Ash is there. Ash and Melanie combine forces to defeat the villains, and Bulbasaur allows Ash to battle it. During Master Quest, Bulbasaur returns to Oak's lab to sort out some differences between Grass-type Pokémon, and stays there to keep things under control (after almost getting killed, and learning DIG).

Bulbasaur has sweet sap inside the bulb on its back - this is why Ash's Heracross keeps trying to eat it.
