The Pokémon Peninsula > About TPP The PokéPeninsula was started by HiKaizer and me (Jedi_Amara) back in... oh, November 2001 for a website competition. (Look, we thought we were pretty good at design back then. Obviously we weren't. Click here to see what it was like. Yes, I'm serious.) In any case, it was uploaded and it got one news update, about eight months later. We had about five pages of content; that's when I decided to close it, since by this time HiKaizer wasn't doing anything with it and there was too much competition. (I turned to Patamon's World instead, a few months later.) When I came back to TPP, I realised that we were crap at design back then XD. And we had maybe 500 words of content all-up (most of it came from a partly-finished walkthrough for Red/Blue). We came back, needless to say. On Friday April 9, 2004, the PokéPeninsula returned, renamed to The Pokémon Peninsula, in version 2.0, with a much better layout (usable anyway) and more content. Kind of. By the way, stats and hits are counted from April 9, 2004, which we're calling our "start date", considering that I rewrote most of the content for the reopening anyway XD. Soon after we reopened, we changed servers. Why? Esmerelda-Greggyina (OK, fine, JKaizer or Greg if you must) took a look at the site and hated the ads so much he couldn't resist offering TPP (and partner site PW) space on his hosting account, beginning several months of hosting on Pokévillage, a forum partnership and a close and long, if strange, friendship XD. (Strange as in, we're basically the same person o_O). Around that time, we switched layout to a PHP layout as well. We've also been picking up affiliates - and, sadly losing some as they closed. Since late 2004, when Gweggy gave me the ryux.net domain, we've mostly been hosted by Shawn of PokeHQ.com. And then he went down for months at a time, so we're back with Gweggy on Elixant. ^_______^ So, let's see. Who do I have to thank? Optic, of course, for starting the Pocket Monsters Network so I had to compete (he closed it two weeks later, but it's back now ^^;); JKaizer/"Gweggy" for everything; Shawn for hosting; CyberRaichu/Darkangemon and Anna for proving that I could be obsessed with Pokémon and Digimon at the same time; Austin, Scott, Jordan, Andy, Soph, oni flygon, Shome, Anthony and all the rest of my friends at the Pokémon Community; and all those Pokémon webmasters out there (most from the Pokémon Community) who showed me that it's still worth the effort to make a Pokémon site. Big props to all of you. |
